How Long Does a Smile Makeover Take?

At Ringway Dental, we understand how a healthy smile can be one of your most important assets. It not only enhances your appearance but also boosts your self-confidence. Our renowned Smile Makeovers are designed to suit a range of dental and cosmetic concerns, ranging from quick fixes to more complex treatments that span over months or even years. Each treatment plan as part of a Smile Makeover will be individually tailored to suit your specific needs, with our expert team providing their professional input every step of the way.

In this guide to how long Smile Makeovers can take, we’ll delve into the specifics to help you understand exactly which types of treatments may be involved.

Very Quick Smile Fixes

Teeth Whitening

One of the quickest and least invasive ways to improve your smile is through teeth whitening. This can often be completed in a single session that can last anywhere from one to two hours. After an initial consultation to ensure you’re a suitable candidate for whitening, your dentist will help you decide which of our three options would work best for you.

With a range of in-surgery and at-home treatments to choose from, we provide convenient and comfortable teeth whitening services that can help you maximise your smile with minimal fuss.

1. Our Boutique tooth whitening package offers an at-home experience with whitening trays you can apply in the comfort of your own home.

2. The Zoom tooth whitening treatment offers an in-surgery treatment, where you’ll leave the practice with an altogether whiter and brighter smile. This is where we’ll apply a whitening agent to your teeth, which is then activated with light or heat. The result is a smile that can be several shades whiter!

3. And finally, our premium Enlighten tooth whitening package gives you the best of both worlds. With a tailored mixture of in-surgery and at-home applications, the entire treatment works out at just £34.40 per day.

Cost: The cost of teeth whitening depends on the treatment you choose. This ranges from £250.00 – £550.00

Aftercare: Your dentist may recommend avoiding foods and drinks that can stain your teeth, such as coffee or red wine, for a couple of days. Use a sensitive toothpaste if you experience any tooth sensitivity.

Composite Bonding

Dental bonding is another quick method to improve minor imperfections like chipped teeth or slight misalignments. This is where a tooth-coloured resin is applied to the areas that need it, before being carefully sculpted to restore the natural look of your teeth. This resin is then hardened with a special light. The composite bonding procedure usually takes about 30 to 60 minutes per tooth. If you are having multiple teeth bonded, the treatment will therefore take longer.

Aftercare: Bonding doesn’t necessarily require special care, but avoiding hard or sticky foods for the first 24-48 hours is advisable. This can help avoid dislodging or moving the bonding material, which may remain slightly malleable for some time after the treatment.

Cost: The cost of composite bonding starts at £250.00 per tooth.

Medium-term Smile Fixes

Veneers

Dental veneers are thin shells made from porcelain or composite material that cover the front surface of your teeth. These can correct issues like discoloured, chipped, or unevenly spaced teeth. The process generally requires two to three appointments for consultation, preparation, and bonding.

Aftercare: You might experience some sensitivity after the procedure. It’s crucial to follow good oral hygiene practices and have regular dental check-ups to ensure your veneers last for many years.

Cost: Porcelain veneers start at £850.00 per tooth. Composite veneers begin at £400.00 per tooth. Bear in mind that porcelain veneers are more durable and last longer, so they may actually be more cost-effective in the long run.

Dental Implants

If you have missing teeth, dental implants can offer a more permanent solution. The implant itself is usually placed in one surgical appointment, but needs several months to integrate with your jawbone. Once it’s stable, a crown is attached to complete the restoration. Dental implants can last a lifetime with excellent care; however, there are only a few appointments involved as you have the procedure completed.

Aftercare: Good oral hygiene and regular dental visits are essential for the long-term success of your implant. Smoking and poor oral hygiene can adversely affect the longevity of the implant.

Cost: The cost of dental implants will depend on your individual circumstances. We recommend you discuss potential fees involved at your initial consultation. A dental crown (the artificial top of the implant) begins at £650.00 per tooth.

Longer-term Smile Fixes

Invisalign

Invisalign is an orthodontic treatment that uses clear, removable aligners to straighten your teeth gradually. Although this is a longer-term treatment, it’s an effective, high-tech way to correct orthodontic issues. Treatment usually takes around 12 months, though it can take longer to adequately treat more complex cases.

Consultation: Your dentist will assess your teeth and plan out your entire treatment, showing you what your final result will be before you even begin.

Aftercare: After your treatment is complete, you’ll need to wear a retainer to keep your teeth in their new positions.

Cost: The cost of Invisalign begins at £2,800.00. We do have interest-free financing options available, as well as a tempting free tooth whitening treatment worth £295.00!
