Preparing Your Teeth for Invisalign Treatment

In some cases, initial consultations can reveal you need to have other dental treatments before you start with your Invisalign journey. Improving your dental health can help prepare for Invisalign treatment, ensuring they’re well-maintained before you start to reconfigure the shape of your teeth.

Having any cavities filled before you start wearing your aligners is best, as your teeth can’t heal properly during Invisalign treatment. You might also want to have your teeth cleaned, scaled and polished, so they’re in the best possible condition before you start treatment.

Before some Invisalign treatments, it’s recommended that you have attachments fitted to your teeth for optimal results. These can help the teeth shift into shape once the aligners are worn. Create Your Personalised Plan

1.     After Your Consultation

Once you’ve had your Invisalign consultation and confirmed you’d like to go ahead with the treatment, we’ll get to work creating your bespoke Invisalign treatment plan.

2.     Having Scans & X-Rays

You will have scans, x-rays, and photographs of your teeth taken in the dental surgery. This means we get a much closer look at your teeth, and can use technology to refine your treatment plan. We use leading digital technology including iTero scanners to ensure your aligners are made with the perfect, straightening fit.

3.     Invisalign Technicians Create Bespoke 3-D Models

Your dentist will send all the detailed impressions and scans of your teeth to the expert Invisalign technicians we work with. They use the latest in cosmetic dental technology to map out 3-D models of your teeth, with in-depth considerations as to how your teeth will move and adapt to the trays. They will then calculate the movements and timeframes required in order to achieve your desired results.

4.     Mapping Out Your Invisalign Plan

Once your 3-D models are all mapped out, this allows us to identify how your treatment plan will work. Working in line to help achieve your expectations for your final smile, this will give you an estimated timeframe as we guide you through your Invisalign treatment.

5.     Creating & Wearing Your Aligners

We’ll create any adjustments needed and tweak the plan alongside the Invisalign specialist, until we are happy with the results. We’ll then confirm the creation of your bespoke Invisalign trays. They might take up to a month to arrive – when you’ll then pick them up from the surgery and be advised on how to care for them.

6.     Monitoring Progress

You’ll be invited back for check-ups so we can monitor how well your Invisalign aligners are working over time. The frequency of your appointments will depend on your bespoke treatment plan, as well as your goals.
